the smallest but coolest gush in the Bamberg beer tsunami

What are the intentions of trying to establish another brewery in a city of 75,000 inhabitants with more than twelve breweries and a district with the highest concentration of breweries in the world (60 breweries with over 400 types of beer)?
Beer obsession?

high spirits?
Actionism?
Harakiri?
First of all simply out of logical consistency – this is easily explained afterwards.
And yet, yes: at least a lot of courage, drive and total passion are the basis for such a project.

Not hara-kiri, however – resignation out of respect, failure in general and acceptance of the apparent impossibility have just as little place in Tom Land's personality as overconfidence.

The Bamberg major organizer, event technician and gastronomic entrepreneur was already confronted with too many experiences, hurdles and setbacks with the nationally known "Canalissimo" and his diverse participation in the Bamberg "Sandkerwa" to shy away from any challenge. And Land is too passionate a connoisseur, connoisseur and freak not to do everything possible to offer its own beers at its own events, even in this record-breaking beer landscape! Someone who keeps coming up with great event ideas of their own wants to top them off with their own beer ideas – actually only logical!

But how do you manage that if you are an ardent admirer of Franconian beer tradition and aspiring beer sommelier, but not a brewer?
By getting a specialist on board with whom the personal chemistry is right and who gets creative together. Jürgen Winkler, as a longtime master brewer, a popular supplier of one of the well-known district brands and also a major restaurateur at the numerous festivals in the region, proved to be exactly this expert. Almost to the point of self-abandonment and actually under the maximum strain of their male friendship, Land and Winkler worked obsessively at first on the "Hellen" - the partnership's entry-level brew - until the last independent palate tickling and the last creamy drinkability were extracted, that of the vision of the unique Tom Land corresponded.

Only when both of them were finally able to stand behind their first beer together with total conviction and full of pride was it officially tasted.

With great enthusiasm - all testers immediately confirmed Land and Winkler that there is still room in the region for these and other delicacies from the joint pot of the two gentlemen!

At the same time as the creation was completed, it was already clear what the “child” should be called – in a playful and obvious way, the perfect flavor of the new brand resulted simply from the surnames of the protagonists, each with a pinch of taste, craftsmanship, comfort, local color and humor: LAND -ANGL. Like a particularly great spot on earth after you've been looking for something

but then you don't want to leave, that's what the new brewery should be called - which first had to be built.

The luck of the brave is often close at hand and so, after a long search, Tom Land finally found the workplace of the new brewery with Master Winkler at the boiler in the immediate vicinity of his business and private domicile: in the middle of beautiful Bamberg - somewhat hidden and yet central, easy to reach reach and yet a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the old-established.

With typical country power, a talent for improvisation, a bit of a wink, but above all with quality awareness and enthusiasm for the implementation of the common vision, Bamberg's smallest but coolest brewery was installed in Siechenstrasse.
Despite the actually devastating corona coma, the attached small taproom quickly developed into a flourishing cult place, both indoors and outdoors, which has the best prerequisites for establishing itself permanently as a small but fine and very special sideshow to the large Bamberg breweries.

The range of "Landwinkl Bräu" has meanwhile grown to a considerable extent and all beers are the remarkably independent result of passion and "Ländlicher Winkl-Zückung" for previously undiscovered nuances of the artisanal Upper Franconian brewing art:
"A Hells", "A Brauns", "A Festbierla", "A Rauchigs" and "A Radler", which, as today's most popular mixed beer drink, should not be missing.

The paralyzing grip of the pandemic is currently loosening, beer gardens and pubs are reopening permanently. The delicious Landwinkl beers will find many more friends at upcoming events of their own - which fulfills the vision of the organizer Land and confirms its basic intention.

And these lovers will no longer want to do without their Landwinkl beers at home or at a private party, which have also been available in the relevant beverage shops for some time.

With that, however, the first chapter of Landwinkl's history has just been written...
Land and Winkler wouldn't be where they are today if they weren't such creative spirits, beer disciples, go-getters and organizational talents.
So it will be interesting to see what else is to come...
